Nostalgia: The day Wombles came to Peterborough
The lovely photograph of the girls meeting a ‘Womble’ was snapped in Cathedral Square, in Peterborough, during the 1980s.
The Womble was collecting funds for a worthy cause but who were the two girls and the women in the background?

The young girl in the colourful coat was standing next to a memorial that once adorned Bridge Street, Peterborough, during the 1990s.
However, the cube shaped memorial was not popular with Peterborough folk.
As a result, at some stage the memorial was broken up.
But the stones are now protected in the courtyards of Peterborough City Hospital.
