Looking back: ‘Extreme weather through the years’

As we saw just before Christmas, with heavy rain and flooding, the British weather can be fierce and unpredictable.

This week’s pictures from Chris Porsz show the weather having an impact on the city landscape.

Chris said: “The first image is from 2010 and shows Canada geese standing on the icy waters outside the now demolished Mitchell’s construction building.”

The building was demolished to make way for the Fletton Quays development.

Chris added: “The second image was taken in the nineties with sandbags at the door as the Nene burst its banks and flooded the offices.”

The final photograph shows flooding at the Milton Ferry bridge in Ferry Meadows.

Chris said: “The recent floods in Nene Park reminded me of an image I took in the spring around 20 years ago with visitors stopped in their tracks.”
