Patients seeking help with minor injuries are encouraged to attend Urgent Treatment Centres in Peterborough or Grantham or the Minor Injuries Unit in Oakham. Alternatively, they can ring NHS 111 where trained clinical staff will be able to advise which service is more appropriate.

Graham Wilde, Chief Operating Officer for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Stamford and Rutland, Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals, said: “We have therefore decided to keep the Minor Injuries Unit at Stamford and Rutland Hospital closed during this time. This has enabled us to continue with the redeployment of MIU teams to Peterborough City Hospital where they are strengthening our response to caring for patients during the pandemic. We are urging patients needing help with minor injuries to seek treatment elsewhere.

“We hope local people will understand how we need to react to meet the challenges of Covid-19, especially as we anticipate changes to the number of cases presenting during the winter period. We will continue to review the situation regularly to ensure we can resume MIU Services in Stamford as soon as practicably possible.”
