£10k funding for Peterborough domestic abuse charity to support survivors

Living Keys has been awarded £9,644 from the National Lottery Community Fund after figures for domestic abuse rose during the coronavirus pandemic.

The funding is enough to run free courses for men or women who have been subject to domestic abuse.

The courses are designed to educate people on the various forms of abuse, how they can affect them and to empower the individuals to move on to an abuse-free life.

Living Keys is currently running four courses a week and is taking applications for its next set of classes in September.

The single-sex courses are available for male and female survivors who are being urged not to suffer in silence.

Linda and Kelly from Living Keys received a cheque outside Boots in the city centre alongside MP for Peterborough Paul Bristow.

Linda said: “We would like to thank the National Lottery Community Fund for investing in us to be able to move forward with the services that Living Keys provide and would also like to thank Paul Bristow for supporting and believing in us.”

Paul added: “I am thrilled to support Living Keys and thank them for all their crucial work.

“They provide a safe environment to facilitate courses to men and women who have gone through domestic abuse, whether current or historical.

“Kelly, Linda and the other team members make me proud of Peterborough.”
