New governors elected for Peterborough City Hospital

Three Greater Peterborough candidates were elected:

Richard Greensmith has lived in Peterborough for more than 38 years. He works with higher education students, is a member of the Board of Governors for a University, and has a passion for safeguarding and promoting the voice of others.

Rebecca Wade also lives in Peterborough and is an experienced Trustee. She leads projects in the construction sector and wants to help the Trust effectively determine strategies, operate as it should and improve its performance.

Local retiree Bernard Weiss is keen to influence how health services are delivered. He has significant experience of committee work and has been the vice-chair of a University governing body.

The trust also welcomes back South Lincolnshire and Stamford candidates Duncan Lawson and Sue Prior, who were re-elected, and extend a welcome to newly-elected Joe Wey, who has lived in Deeping St James for 21 years and has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 12 years. He is currently responsible for corporate Risk and Compliance with a Peterborough-based national residential and nursing care provider.

The election for the constituency of Huntingdonshire resulted in success for Amanda Buckenham, who was re-elected, and newcomer Rob Gardiner, from Buckden, who worked as a nurse in the NHS for 40 years in both hospital and community settings. He is a board member of the Huntingdonshire Patient Forum and Chair of a local Patient Participation Group.

The trust also welcomed back John Ellington and Asif Mahmood who were re-appointed as Staff Governors for Peterborough City Hospital.

Trust chairman Rob Hughes, said: “On behalf of our Council of Governors and the Trust Board of Directors, I would like to welcome our five new Public Governors to our Trust and welcome back our re-elected Governors. We look forward to working with them.

“When the current health emergency is over we look forward to being able to hold public board meetings and members’ meetings once again.”
