The relocation of a walk-in centre in the heart of Peterborough to Peterborough City Hospital is feasible, it has been claimed.

Neil Doverty, chief operating officer, Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals Trust, told Peterborough City Councillors on Tuesday that the proposed move could go ahead but more research is still needed.

In July last year, it was announced that the Minor Injuries and Illness Unit could move from Thorpe Road to alleviate congestion at the hospital’s Emergency Department.

Mr Doverty said: “We are some way short of announcing it formally. There’s still work to be done.” Issues over parking and accessibility will be looked into before a decision is made.
