The Peterborough neighbourhood that saw a big jump in COVID cases last week - and the 10 that saw a fall

One Peterborough neighbourhood saw a large rise in COVID cases last week - but 10 of the 22 neighbourhoods in the city saw a fall in the number of positive tests.

The Central Park area of the city saw 32 positive tests in the seven days ending on October 29 - 24 cases more than in the previous seven days.

The neighbourhood had the most cases in the city last week. Of the 22 neighbourhoods in the city, 11 saw a rise in cases, 10 saw a fall, with Glinton, Northborough and Maxey recording the same number of cases.

The biggest fall was in Fengate and Parnwell, where there were 11 positive cases, compared to 19 in the previous seven days. However, Barnack, Wittering and Wansford recorded three or fewer cases last week, having recorded nine the previous week, meaning a fall of at least six cases.

In total last week, there were 17 more cases in Peterborough than the previous week.

The government figures are updated daily, and are available at https://coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

The figures come as a national lockdown is set to be introduced tomorrow.

Yesterday the Director of Public Health for Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, Dr Liz Robin, urged residents to cut socialising before the restrictions come into force to prevent transmission of the virus.

And earlier this week Graham Wilde, Chief Operating Officer for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, the trust which runs Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke hospitals, said there were 54 patients being treated for COVID across both sites.
