Councillor John Holdich,(76), received his jab last week.

Cllr Holdich, said: “I’d recommend it to everyone. The staff administering the vaccine were wonderful and I didn’t feel a thing. It’s an important step in protecting ourselves against Covid-19, but for those of us you’ve had it, we should continue to be careful, as even though we’ve had the jab, it’s still possible to spread the virus.”

Councillor Steve Allen, cabinet member from Peterborough City Council had his vaccine done on Friday at the Octagon Medical Practice in Peterborough.

Cllr Allen, who is in his 70s, said: “My experience was that it was very efficient, painless and swift. I had the text on Thursday and was vaccinated on Friday afternoon.”

Also getting his jab last week was 74-year-old Councillor Ian Bates, chairman of the Highways and Transport Committee at Cambridgeshire County Council who went along to the Charles Hickes Surgery in Huntingdon.

He said: “I was really impressed by how well organised it was. Marshals were helping with parking and someone with a hand-held tablet stood at the door checking people in and distributing hand sanitiser.

“Floor print markers ensure everyone adhered to social distancing and all staff and volunteers explained the process fully to me. It was painless vaccination, I felt very safe and well looked after throughout and it was all dealt with in about in about 30 minutes.”

And 75-year-old Councillor Bill Hunt from Cambridgeshire County Council was delighted to take up his offer to be vaccinated in Ely at the weekend.

Cllr Hunt said: “The vaccination was painless and didn’t take long at all. It’s worth reminding everyone to continue adhering to the public health guidance, as it’s still possible to pass on the virus to those who are not protected, even after being vaccinated.”
