Parents reassured after confirmed COVID case at Peterborough school

Parents are being reassured after a staff member at a Peterborough school tests positive for coronavirus.

The confirmed case has occurred at Ken Stimpson Community School in Werrington - but in a letter to parents, the school confirmed the staff member in question had not had contact with any pupils. The school remains open as normal.

The letter said: “We are writing to inform you that we have been notified of a confirmed case of COVID-19 withing the school.

“We appreciate this will be of concern, but would like to assure you that we are working closely with Public Health England and the Local Authority to monitor the situation and ensure that the appropriate measures are put in place,

“It is important to note that no children have been in direct contact with the confirmed case.

“The small number of staff who have been in direct contact with the confirmed case have been informed and will be staying at home for 14 days.

“The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well.”

Parents were also given advice on what to do if children show coronavirus symptoms.
