The staff member at Thomas Deacon Academy is self isolating following the test.

Rick Carroll, Principal of Thomas Deacon Academy, said: “We were made aware on Sunday 4th October that a member of our staff had tested positive for Covid-19. In line with guidance from NHS England, the member of staff will be self-isolating for 10 days.

“We immediately followed the test and trace protocol and due to the robust guidelines and contact tracing we have in place, Public Health England were satisfied that no other staff or students needed to self-isolate on this occasion. Following this guidance, the school remains fully open to all students and children should continue to attend school if they are feeling well.

“The safety of our students, staff and wider community is vital and while we know this might be worrying news for parents, we are confident that the academy remains a safe place to learn and the procedures we have in place are working successfully.”
