Number of COVID deaths at Peterborough City Hospital approaches 200

The number of deaths related to COVID at Peterborough City Hospital is approaching 200, the trust that runs the hospital has said.

Since Monday three more deaths related to the virus have been announced.

Earlier this week the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust said 69 COVID patients were being treated at Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals.

Today Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 300 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 110 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 190 at Peterborough City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions.

"Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients' families and loved ones at this difficult time."
