Hundreds of Peterborough COVID patients discharged from hospital

Hundreds of COVID-19 patients at Peterborough City Hospital have recovered from the virus during the crisis.

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals, have revealed a total of 533 coronavirus patients have been discharged from the hospitals since the pandemic began, and are now recovering at home.

Sadly, since March 24, 247 patients have died at the trust’s hospitals.

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 247 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 98 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 149 at Peterborough City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. They had all tested positive for Covid-19.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Public Health England data shows there have been 1,282 positive coronavirus tests in Peterborough. This data includes pillar 2 statistics, which were only made available for the first time last week.
