In Cambridgeshire as a whole 151 staff and 1,417 pupils are self-isolating - last week 182 staff and 1,067 pupils had been affected.

Jon Lewis, director of education for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, said: “The number of pupils self-isolating is relatively low in comparison to the total number of pupils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. There are over 123,000 pupils in Cambridgeshire and more than 35,000 in Peterborough – the current levels of pupils self-isolating in both areas are in line with the national average. The change to the tier model from lockdown has no significant impact on our schools who will continue to remain open for education.

“We continue to work with schools to offer support so that young people can continue to get the education they need. Our Education teams are committed to ensuring pupils follow the rules within their education setting, with the safety of our pupils, their families and staff remaining our utmost priority. We intend sharing details with parents next week on the Winter Grant scheme to ensure all those that need access to food and help with other challenges over Christmas are supported.”
