Eighty five per cent of Peterborough residents aged 70 and over have had second COVID jab

Figures released by NHS England today show that one in five adults in the city have now had both doses of COVID vaccine (up to May 2).

A total of 39,243 people have had their second vaccine - up by 4,844 from last week.

A total of 89,737 people have had their first dose - 46.3 per cent of the adult population of the city. The number of first doses given out in Peterborough in the past week went up by 1,734.

A total of 23.5 per cent of adults aged under 49 have had at least one jab, while 7.8 per cent in that age group have had both jabs.

A total of 76.0 per cent of people aged 50-54 have had one jab, with 12.5 per cent having had both jabs.

A total of 79.4 per cent of people aged 55-59 have had one jab, with 20.8 per cent having had both jabs.

A total of 82.2 per cent of people aged 60-64 have had one jab, with 24.6 per cent having had both jabs.

A total of 85.6 per cent of people aged 65-69 have had one jab, with 37.5 per cent having had both jabs.

A total of 90.1 per cent of people aged 70-74 have had one jab, with 82.9 per cent having had both jabs.

A total of 93.7 per cent of people aged 75-79 have had one jab, with 87.4 per cent having had both jabs.

A total of 92.6 per cent of people aged 80 and over have had one jab, with 85.6 having had both jabs.

Peterborough’s COVID case rate per 100,000 people has remained largely steady over the past few days, with government data showing that during the seven days up to April 30 (the most recent data available) the high point was 49.4 on April 29, and the low point was 45 on April 28.

The last COVID related death (within 28 days of a positive test) was recorded on April 16, and the one before then was recorded on March 25.

In the seven days up to April 25, four patients were admitted to hospitals run by the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford & Rutland) with COVID. On April 27, there were 18 patients in the hospitals with COVID, with two in mechanical ventilation beds.
