The health facility has been created at the Allia Business Centre, at the Peterborough United stadium, in London Road, and will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The free tests are available for all staff that work in care homes, domiciliary care and day care centres, as well as personal assistants who are employed via personal health budgets, and assisted/supported living staff.

The antibody test involves a voluntary blood test and aims to determine whether a person has already had Coronavirus.

Tests are being provided free of charge by the NHS via the Greater Peterborough Network and are currently available to book online, by appointment only.

An Allia spokeswoman said: “We are proud to be supporting the NHS by providing a venue for its local Covid-19 antibody testing clinic.”

The move comes as concern grows at an apparent shortage of tests nationwide with some people being asked to travel hundreds of miles to get to a testing station.

Health bosses have also warned that a shortage of tests for NHS workers is putting hospital services at risk.
