Donna White was ‘surprised’ when looking to sell or donate her daughter’s old uniform that a group wasn’t already anything in place.

So she decided to create a space for parents to search for uniforms while watching their pennies and helping the environment.

Donna said: “It’s expensive to buy for one child but for people with two, three, four or five children it can be really expensive.

“Even when you’re looking at £30 per pair of shoes! With children being out of school, they’ve probably outgrown their uniforms but they will still be in really great condition!”

Donna’s daughter, Kayla (12) who now attends Hampton College gave away her primary school summer dresses on the site.

She said: “They haven’t even been worn and they were blue so could be worn for any school!

“We weren’t needing her uniform and it was all in good condition I thought it would be great for there to be somewhere for people to pass on to people that need it.”

Gaining really positive feedback from members, the group has become a platform for all school needs, not just school uniforms but also attracting posts of lunch boxes, book bags and shoes.

Although the group has taken off really well, Donna hopes more people will join as the group is ‘lacking members from the same schools’, as parents are asking for specific items such as logo blazers. She hopes as more people join so different ages, sizes and schools will be covered.

To join the group go to: ‘School Uniform SWAP SHOP Peterborough’ on Facebook or click here.
