Primary school is a growing success

A local primary school celebrated its '˜growing' success with the help of a national food company.

Beeches Primary School in Peterborough had been growing potatoes as part of the Food for Life awards, a Government initiative to teach the core ethos of healthy and sustainable food.

The children took part in ‘Get Growing’, which educates them on where food comes from and how it grows, and in April planted potatoes, sponsored by McCain.

The children dug up the potatoes to eat and celebrated their success with two special assemblies.

All classes which took part were presented with certificates by Peterborough City Council leader Cllr John Holdich, Cllr June Stokes and Central Ward Cllr, Mahboob Hussain.
