Staff and children from the nursery’s pre-school were given a tour of the practice by a specialist veterinary nurse and learned all about the fundamentals of looking after pets.

After the tour, children were given the chance to play the part of a vet by dressing up in the well-known surgical clothing, using the stethoscope to listen to each other’s heartbeats and even met Lacey, a six-month-old Beagle puppy.

Lorna Hyndman, veterinary nurse at the Hampton Veterinary Centre, said: “It was fantastic to see the children having so much fun and give them the chance to see the clinic and learn about what a veterinary surgeon does.”

Eloise Godfrey, nursery manager at Busy Bees in Hampton Hargate, said: “It’s really important that our children are given the opportunity to experience life in their local community and to extend their learning outside of the nursery.”
