Nene Park Academy opens its doors to budding young artists

Towards the end of the Summer term, students from Leighton Primary School visited Nene Park Academy as part of their Art Week, looking at the theme of '˜food' within the Academy's art and photography departments.

A total of 60 Year 6 students participated in three workshops at the Academy over their two day visit, including mono-printing cards, photographing pieces of fruit, and a sculpture class making cupcakes.

The students’ work from their visit was also displayed in Nene Park Academy’s annual Summer Art Exhibition on July 14 alongside work from older students at the Academy.

Naomi Clarke, head of art at Nene Park Academy, commented: “This is a great example of the work we do in collaboration with local primary schools.

“It was great to have the students attend our annual exhibition and show off their work and we hope that this will lead to establishing a larger art network with more local primary schools in Peterborough. We look forward to welcoming the students from Leighton again later this year!”
