Leighton Primary School in Orton Malborne was commended for better “outcomes” for its pupils, as well as improved teaching, support for the most vulnerable pupils, and good pupil behaviour.

The school was, though, told to make sure the most able pupils make the progress which they are capable of.

Headteacher Hayley Sutton said: “The Ofsted outcome was a result of the wonderful children that we have here at Leighton and the dedication, skill and hard work of all the Leighton staff and governors.

“I would like to personally thank our parents who are fully supportive of our school, engage with us through school events, and work effectively with the staff and governors to ensure that we provide the very best for the children.

“I would also like to recognise the support that we have received from the local authority in ensuring that we can maintain our ‘Good’ judgement. We are already working hard this term to ensure that as a school we address the actions given to us by Ofsted to ensure that we make the school an even better place for the children to come to, and to ensure we strengthen all of the very positive aspects of our school.”
