Closures at Peterborough schools due to teacher strikes

Three schools in Peterborough are shut today because of teacher strikes, with a number of others due to be affected.

Pupils will not be attending Gladstone, Heltwate or John Clare due to the walk outs, while there are part closures elsewhere.

The strike demands by the National Union of Teachers include increasing funding to schools and to resume negotiations on teacher contracts.

As of yesterday afternoon (Monday, July 3) Peterborough City Council said three schools were closed today and that the following would be partially open. These were: Gunthorpe. Jack Hunt, Northborough, Paston Ridings, Ravensthorpe, Thorpe and Watergall.

The council was also awaiting information on a number of other schools.
