Young people from Peterborough have the chance to see their artwork displayed in front of London's Tate Modern and along the River Nene as part of a new art competition.

The Rivers of the World Art Competition is part of an international art and education project led by Thames Festival Trust, Metal and Nene Park Trust.

Twenty of the best designs will be brought together in a flag design by artist Jeni Cairns. The work will then be displayed in London and Peterborough alongside flags from across the world during September and October.

As many have become more aware of the environment and our green spaces during lockdown, the competition is asking young people aged 11 to 18 to take River Nene as it’s inspiration - this could include the wildlife, activities on the river, the route the river takes, or how it is used now and in the past.

Artist Jeni Cairns has produced two creative activities and films to get young artists inspired.

Or, why not explore the River Nene – take a walk, research it online or talk to people about their experiences of the river.

The deadline for entries is Thursday, July 16. For further details about the competition, including how to submit your entries, visit here and click on events.
