If you won the lottery tomorrow – which supercar would be on your list?

But what’s it to be? Hypercar, SUV or luxury model? Whether you want to fulfil your need for speed, go on an expensive off-road adventure or simply enjoy a luxury lifestyle we look at five outstanding cars, guaranteed to turn heads

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

With a pricetag of £2.8 million, 1479 hp engine, 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 261mph/420kph the Pur Sport packs a punch.

If it’s exclusivity you’re after, the Pur Sport is your answer, if you can manage to get one that is. With a price tag of a jaw-dropping £2.8 million, it would be best to have won the Powerball, Mega Millions or a massive EuroMillions jackpot in order to afford this car without severely setting yourself back. Having said that, your chances of even owning this car in the first place are almost like winning the lottery again as only 60 have been produced.

This beast boasts an awesome 1479 horsepower, triple the horsepower of a Porsche 911S, powered by an 8.0 litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine which brings it to a top speed of a mind-blowing 261 mph / 420 kph. Although an incredibly fast hypercar, the Pur Sport was not designed specifically for speed, the car’s design is focussed on cornering and grip, with improved handling. 50 kilos have been shaved off the overall weight of a standard Chiron to improve the Pur Sport’s general agility. Experienced drivers will make the most of the Pur Sport but if this is your first hypercar (which as a lottery winner, it probably would be) it is not recommended to attempt a drift!

In terms of looks, the back of the Pur Sport shows a distinctive X design which according to Bugatti is inspired by “motor sports and science fiction elements” and has been likened to the X-wing starfighter from Star Wars! The interior is described as ‘European contemporary’ on par with Rolls Royce and Bentley, featuring plenty of leather and Alcantara along with carbon fibre elements for the perfect combination of luxury and speed requirements.

If you are unable to acquire the Pur Sport, you may have a better chance of buying a standard Chiron, of which 500 have been produced. At £2.5 million, it’s not exactly a much cheaper option but according to Auto Express, definitely worth it. However, you could save a million or so by opting for the Bugatti Veyron instead, which is still one of the most recognisable and awesome cars in the world.

Ferrari F8 Tributo

This Ferrari will set you back £200,000-£250,000. This buys you 1479 hp under the bonnet, meaning 0-60 in just 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 211mph/339.5 kph.

Ferrari is the stereotypical car for a lottery winner. The classic image of a beautiful red Ferrari roaring down the road and blasting off into the sunset is a lifelong dream for many.

The F8 Tributo is a true all-rounder, featuring all the best characteristics of a Ferrari, being curvaceous, aerodynamically efficient and elegant yet aggressive. Everything you could want from a supercar whilst also being an ideal “entry-level” supercar.

Built as a replacement for the 488 GTB, the F8 Tributo features a 3.9 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces a huge 710 horsepower that enables the car to sprint from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 211 mph / 39.5 kph. Aerodynamics are assisted by a distinctive S-duct which allows air to flow from the front bumper through to the bonnet, resulting in 15% more downforce. Furthermore, the interior has been completely redesigned to include all the modern conveniences without compromising the driver-orientated feel and practicality expected of a Ferrari.

The name ‘Tributo’, meaning ‘tribute’, is a nod to Ferrari’s V8-powered Berlinetta in celebration of over 40 years of its existence. The Tributo certainly upholds Ferrari’s legacy and is no doubt one of the best supercars currently on the market.

Lamborghini Urus

At £160000- £180,000 the Lambourghini boasts a 641 hp engine, will go 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph/306 kph

It’s Lamborghini, but not as you know it. Described by former Lamborghini CEO, Stefano Domenicali as a “Supersport car in a different dressing”, the Urus’ DNA is pure Lamborghini in the form of an SUV.

The great thing about the Urus is that you have the power, speed and look of a supercar but the practicality of an SUV, plus the versatility of being able to switch though six different modes at the flick of a lever. Let’s have a look at these six modes:

Neve (Snow): Designed for extra traction in slippery and snowy conditions.

Sabbia (Sand): Extra ground clearance, especially effective on sand dunes.Sport: Country roads, uphill, downhill and windy bends.

Corsa (Race): This is your choice for the perfect track day.Strada (Street): For your everyday drive.

Terra (Earth): Enjoy the ultimate off-road experience.

The luxury interior is decked out with the latest tech and includes a large, easy to use, touch screen display. Additionally, you can lower the boot for easy access and there is also a tow hook. Yes, you can tow with a Lamborghini, up to 3000 lbs (3175 kg) in fact.

With a 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 that can reach 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds and push for a top speed of 190 mph / 306 kph, you don’t lose out on the supercar experience with the Urus, yet you can still use it as an everyday vehicle if you chose. The perfect balance between style, power and practicality.

McLaren Artura

This will set you back around £185,000, you’ll get 671 hp, 0-60 in 3 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph / 330 kph

What’s in a name? Well McLaren have come up with a clever portmanteau of ‘art’ and ‘future’ for their 2021 hybrid, hence the ‘future’ reference. Blending the art of design and future technology, McLaren are indeed looking to the future.

It’s a hybrid, but don’t be fooled. The Artura is a seriously fast car, reaching a top speed of 205 mph / 330 kph and 0-60 in 3 seconds flat. The chassis is made out of carbon fibre and the engine is a 3-litre twin-turbo V6 with a hybrid powertrain that enables you to drive up to 20 miles on electric power alone. The car starts on electric mode in default, meaning you won’t wake your neighbours up when you start it! In fact, this car could very well be used as an everyday car as there is plenty of legroom and storage space in the cabin and you can drive around town comfortably without making too much noise.

To add to this, the Artura comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto as a standard on a large central screen in the form of an 8-inch super HD floating display, resembling a tablet. The tech comforts don’t end there. A 10.25-inch main display aids your driving experience and best of all, you can adjust driving modes without taking your hands of the wheel by using conveniently placed controls. On the right hand you can adjust the powertrain whilst on the left are the handling adjustments and traction control.

Additionally, you get a 5-year vehicle warranty, six-year warranty on the battery and 10 years on the body. All in all, the Artura is a car which is fast, part-electric, tech savvy and comfortable. An ideal choice for those who are more environmentally conscious but who still want a fast and good-looking car, plus additional tech.

Rolls-Royce Phantom

With a pricetag of £350,000 - £450,000, the Phantom boasts 563hp, goes from 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph/249 kph.

If you want to make a statement, buy a Rolls-Royce. Its distinctive grill and famous bonnet ornament ‘The Spirit of Ecstasy’ make any Rolls-Royce instantly recognisable. As a status symbol, nothing can rival the British classic. The Phantom is Rolls-Royce’s flagship and undoubtedly the pinnacle of the superluxury vehicle class.

There are three main reasons to buy this car: luxury, comfort and opulence. In terms of comparison to any other vehicle in its class, the Phantom would be the equivalent to owning a private jet rather than travelling first class. The spacious interior is a place to unwind and enjoy, but the car also handles extremely well and is a joy to drive (if you decide to give your butler a day off). The drivability of the Phantom is superb, despite weighing nearly three tonnes.

The engine is a massive 6.75 litre twin-turbo V12 and the whole car is a marvel of mechanical refinement. The interior is lined with the finest leathers, stitched to perfection along with only the highest quality woods. Of course, everything can be customised in every conceivable way, Rolls-Royce are masters of bespoke service after all.

The first Rolls-Royce dates back to 1904. When you buy a Rolls-Royce, you buy into a history and legacy like no other. The ultimate symbol of class, refinement and of British engineering and luxury manufacturing. A car fit for royalty.

Guests at The Ritz London can receive the royal treatment by being picked up from Heathrow in a Phantom. This service costs £600 plus 10% hotel surcharge or £300 an hour to hire, plus 10% hotel surcharge.

Which cars have previous lottery winners bought?

Our five suggestions are all good options for lottery winners who want to buy flash cars, but which cars have known previous lottery winners actually bought? Here are a few examples:

Lisa & John Robinson – Tesla Model S / GMC Yukon Denali

In January 2016 the US Powerball jackpot had rolled over to a mind-boggling $1.58 billion (£1.15 billion) which was shared between three winning tickets. After a 25% tax deduction and following their decision to receive a lump-sum payment instead of instalments, Lisa & John Robinson took home an astonishing $245.85 million (£178.29 million). The Robinsons purchased a Gold Tesla Model S (£73,990) and a GMC Yukon Denali (£50,000).

The Tesla Model S is an all-electric luxury car which has essentially made electric vehicle ownership desirable and is still the foremost example in this field, although strong competitors are rising. The Yukon Denali is a luxury SUV.

Gillian Bayford – Bentley Bentayga

Adrian and Gillian Bayford won a staggering £148 million EuroMillions jackpot in 2012 which puts them in the list of the top 5 EuroMillions winners of all time.

The couple divorced 15 months after their win and Gillian went on to buy a fleet of 10 cars including a £150,000 Bentley Bentayga, described by Top Gear as “an irresistibly posh take on the SUV” and by Car Wow as “an uber-luxurious and exclusive SUV that redefines luxury in this area of the market”.

Simon Fagan – Second-hand Kia

Simon Fagan won £3 million on the Irish Lotto in 2013, more than enough to afford a luxury vehicle. Instead, Simon chose to invest in a modest second-hand Kia with 150,000 miles on the clock. The average price of a new Kia ranges from £10,000 to £43,000. However, the man from County Louth only learned to drive after he won the lotto so it is somewhat understandable. After his win, Simon said he was in no rush to move out of his mother’s house, who he split his win with. He has since become involved in horse racing.

Luxury cars at affordable prices

Each would be on the wishlist of lottery winner, and each has its pros and cons, but they are all unique. And if you haven’t won the lottery, or aren’t lucky enough to become a millionaire someday, there are cars which can make you look classy and rich without having to spend over £20,000. Lottoland, along with social media influencer Jamie Balmer has come up with a list of 5 cars you could buy to look like you won the lottery.
