The awards are a showcase for the success stories in the area’s business community and we welcome entries from large, long established companies to firms that were established on a kitchen table or inside a laboratory.

Our awards recognise the diverse business and entrepreneurial talent the area has to offer and give you a chance to highlight what is great about the business you own, work for or love.

But you’ve got to be in it to win it and we want you to tell us about your business success stories.

You don’t have to enter your own business, you might know of a local success story or have a supplier you think deserves recognition.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on August 1 when our judges will begin the task of looking at all of the entries.

The culmination of the awards will be a celebration gala dinner and ceremony at the Peterborough Arena on November 25 which will be hosted by Melvyn Prior with a celebrity high-profile after-dinner speaker.

Chris Collier, chairman of the awards’ judges, said: “The business awards are an excellent way of promoting your company in the Greater Peterborough Area, making employees proud to be part of the business and giving customers the feelgood factor by knowing what a good company they are dealing with.

Mike Walters, founder of office design and supplies company Walters, who won the Business Person of the Year award last year, said: “I’d urge companies large and small to enter the awards.

“It was a really humbling experience for myself but it was also a tremendously exciting evening for us all. It does help raise the company’s profile among customers and the public.”

Karl Hick, chief executive the Larkfleet Group of Companies, which won the environmental achievement award, said: “Larkfleet has been involved with the Peterborough Telegraph Business Awards for several years, both as a sponsor and as an entrant – and, happily, also as a winner.

“We firmly believe that these awards are an excellent way of raising the profile of local businesses that are at ‘the top of their game’ and of highlighting their achievements to customers, staff, potential employees, investors and others with whom they do business.

“The rigorous judging by a panel of experienced business people means that the awards are not easily won and are a real demonstration of excellence.”

A spokesman for the insurance company the BGL Group said: “It was a real honour to be awarded Large Business of the Year as well as an award for our Corporate Social Responsibility work at last year’s Business Awards, as it was a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our people.

“The Business Awards are a great way for organisations and their people to be recognised for the hard work that they do.”
