Sparkling success for young Bourne entrepreneur

An entrepreneur in Bourne looks set to be a glittering success after launching his own collection of jewellery.

With less than six months of trading under his belt, Matt Powell (25) of Wherrys Lane, has big plans for his new business venture Matt Powell Fine Jewellery.

Having already sold several pieces from his collection, Matt has been asked to create pieces for a jewellery gallery in Birmingham and hopes to enter the renown Craft and Design Awards next year.

He said: “My passion started when my mum opened her Crown Jewellers shop in 2009 and since then I’ve been interested in how jewellery is made.”

Launching his own label business has involved securing support from South Kesteven District Council’s business programme.

He said: “Thanks to SKDC4Business I was able to develop my business plan, successfully attract funding and launch Matt Powell Fine Jewellery.

“The next step was the most exciting – having the funds to purchase raw materials for Matt Powell Fine Jewellery. I researched and bought the finest cut gems stones available and shipped them into the country. Buying the finest quality gem stone, diamonds and other raw materials such as gold and platinum was the biggest investment I had to make.”
