The tour operator, based in Lynch Wood, Peterborough, has just added Sharm to its programme of winter holidays this year.

But Thomas Cook has also pledged that it will not put its customers a risk.

It has warned the resort will be dropped if current Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) guidance not to travel to Sharm did not change by the end of April.

The Foreign Office first advised against travelling through the resort’s airport after a Russian charter flight was bombed in October 2015.

That advice has not changed since and Thomas Cook has repeatedly extended its refusal to fly its customers to the resort.

However, a Thomas Cook spokeswoman said: “Putting Sharm on sale for the winter season means that if the FCO flight ban to Sharm is lifted before the end of April, we are able to offer a winter programme to the destination.

“So it’s forward planning for the next season.

She said: “While we do need to forward plan for next winter’s holidays, we never take customers on holiday against the advice of the UK Foreign Office.

“If there’s no change then we will cancel all holidays to Sharm and offer a full refund or destination change free of charge.”
