The 48 hour walk out beginning today (Wednesday, March 9) is part of a national protest at the government’s offer of new contracts for junior doctors.

A spokesperson for the Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “You may be aware that across the country, on Wednesday 9 March and Thursday 10 March, junior doctors will be taking part in 48-hour strike action.

“This will not affect emergency care services. Those junior doctors rostered to work a shift in the Emergency Department will be on duty as normal.

“However, there are a number of outpatient clinics that have been cancelled as a result of a lack of medical staff cover. Those patients whose clinic appointments have been cancelled will have been notified either by letter or telephone in advance.

“If you have not been contacted by the hospital, please come to your appointment as usual.

“If you have any further queries, please call our Outpatient appointments booking team on 01733 673555.”
