Online beauty products retailer moves warehouse operations to Peterborough creating new jobs
Jobs are to be created in Peterborough as an online retailer of beauty products moves its warehouse operations to the city.
The Skin Research Group, which was founded just six years ago, is opening a warehouse and fulfilment centre in a 10,000 sq ft unit at 8 Holkham Road, Orton Southgate.
The company is moving the operations from its current base in London's Docklands.
The sale price has not been released but the recently refurbished unit had been on the market with a guide price of about £500,000.
Skin Research Group, which has more than 30 staff, is currently recruiting for warehouse operatives to work in the new warehouse.
Chief executive Richard Walker, who founded the company, said the affordability of industrial premises in Peterborough and the city's excellent communication links had been key to the relocation.
He said the company’s head office will remain in central London.
Mr Walker added: "In acknowledging that the availability of industrial units is an ongoing issue in hotspots across the country as logistics demand grows, commercial property in Peterborough shines through because of the added value of the city’s excellent transport links and the area’s large population from which to recruit warehouse operatives at all skill levels.”
Skin Research Group sells a number of specialist, premium skincare brands, including vegan brand, Dr Botanicals.
The sale of the unit was confirmed by property agency Barker Storey Matthews who acted on behalf of the vendor.
Richard Jones, director of Barker Storey Matthews, said: "The relocation of Skin Research Group’s logistics from London to premises in Peterborough confirms the appeal of our city’s established industrial areas such as Orton Southgate.
“Demand for commercial premises for occupier uses such as those of Skin Research Group and similar, niche suppliers, stockists and sellers, is expected ro remain constant as we head in to the first quarter of next year."
