New boss named for agency at heart of wealth and jobs creation in Peterborough

Tom Hennessy, the current interim chief executive, has been officially appointed as chief executive.

He replaces Steve Bowyer, who left last month after four years in the job.

Mr Hennessy said: “I’m delighted to be able to lead the organisation at such an exciting time.

“For the moment it’s business as usual but there are plenty of fresh opportunities ahead, both for us as a company and the city.

Chairman of Opportunity Peterborough, Dr Angus Kennedy said: “I’m confident Tom, and the wider Opportunity Peterborough team, will continue to boost the city’s economy; whether it’s supporting skills development, ensuring growth is sustainable and benefits everyone, as well as making the most of the many new opportunities ahead.”

Peterborough City Council leader Councillor John Holdich said: “Opportunity Peterborough plays a vital role in securing a prosperous future for Peterborough and its businesses and I’m confident in Tom’s ability to lead the company and deliver great things for Peterborough.”

Mr Hennessy has been with Opportunity Peterborough for four years and was formerly the agency’s head of economic strategy and partnerships.

He has previously worked in Cambridgeshire County Council’s Economic Development team, as well as having worked in the private

sector.
