Any losses are a hit to our local economy, and I am more than willing to support and represent employees of the company who are concerned about prospective job losses in any way I can.
"As the consultation period has only just begun, there is a risk that these redundancies will fall at the worst possible time of the year for many families: Christmas.
"I have no doubt it is normal practice for companies to review business operations regularly, but on face value, employees here have faced years of precarity - with the company being bought and sold twice: three years ago and now on the market again. I will be contacting Ideal Shopping Direct to discuss their plans further."
Earlier today Bill Adams, chief executive officer at Ideal Shopping Direct, said: "Yesterday, Ideal Shopping Direct Ltd announced that it had completed a review of the business and was entering a consultation period of not less than 30 days, which could result in the loss of up to 60 roles across the group.

"Given the nature of the consultation process, we cannot comment further at this time."
