The new unit has been empty since Waitrose moved to a new purpose built unit in Mayor’s Walk in October 2014.

It is not clear if a retailer has been signed up to the current H&M unit when it becomes vacant.

Mark Broadhead, Queensgate’s centre director, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce that H&M is going to be moving to the old Waitrose unit.

“This is a fantastic move for Queensgate as we continue to invest in creating a better shopping experience for everyone.

“This move will complement recent and future developments within the centre, which all comes together to make Queensgate the leisure destination of choice for the region.

“We will be making further announcements soon.”
