A spokeswoman for PIP said discussions are well advanced with the hotel operator and a further announcement is expected shortly.

Bob Weston, chairman of Weston Homes, said: “We are delighted to continue our support for Peterborough and we are looking forward to being part of one of the most exciting developments in the city’s history.

“This will be a wonderful location for new apartments and will help breathe new life into the area.”

Weston Homes has carried out the development of The Gables, an estate of premier family homes on the site of the former Peterborough District Hospital.

Weston will now work with PIP to secure detailed planning consent for the residential phase, which will include agreeing the final appearance and materials of the finished scheme.

Following Peterborough City Council announcement that it will move its headquarters to Fletton Quays, Nigel Desmond’s Bride Hall will develop the main new office building, renovate and refurbish a listed rail shed and build the supporting multi-storey car park.

Mr Desmond said; “This is a great development for Peterborough that will create a vibrant extension to the city centre and brings the modern high quality office accommodation that the city badly needs.

“Bride Hall is proud to be able to work with PIP and the council to help deliver Fletton Quays.”
