Called the 75 Event, it is held each year and only those who sell more than 75 barrels, which is more than 21,000 pints, are invited to take part.

This year saw guests from as far afield as Musselburgh, in East Lothian, Norwich and Oswestry travel for the event where they received a trophy and certificate from Oakham’s managing director Adrian Posnett and head brewer Alex Kean.

Mr Posnett said the event had been a wonderful opportunity to catch-up with pubs and bars that have been long-standing supporters of Oakham Ales.

He said: “This is one of my favourite events of the year and is always a special evening where we get to say a big thank you to those who support all of us by putting Oakham Ales in pride of place in their pubs and bars.”

As well as Oakham Ales on offer at Brewery Tap, guests were able to try wines courtesy of Oakham’s sister company Bellwether Wines.

The brewery has just announced ambitious expansion plans after securing a £150,000 grant that will help the company diversify into the production of lager and keg-type beers.
