300 Peterborough companies sign up for #PayFair campaign

Leaders of the #PayFair campaign say they are delighted with the response from city businesses just one week after its launch.

Organisations including accountants Rawlinsons and Peterborough Regional College have signed up to #PayFair and politicians and business groups have backed the campaign.

North West Cambridgeshire MP Shailesh Vara said: “This is a very worthwhile campaign which has my wholehearted support.

“Cash flow for companies is of vital importance and it is crucial that payments due are made promptly.

“I very much hope that local companies will sign up to this campaign and adhere to the commitment.”

Councillor Peter Hiller, cabinet member for economic development at Peterborough City Council, said: “The #PayFair campaign has my support and I’m pleased businesses in Peterborough are taking a stand on the issue. Companies should treat one another professionally and paying on time is an important part of that.

“I encourage all businesses in Peterborough to sign up to PayFair and stand by their commitments. It could make a big difference to the business economy of our city.”

The campaign is the idea of Maurice Power, managing director of Ferguson Financial Solicitors, in Peterborough.

He said: “In the last week I have met scores of businesses that have nothing but praise for the campaign - it’s very encouraging.”

Mr Power added: “What we need now is for businesses around Peterborough to add their names to the #PayFair website and really start delivering on their promises.

“Late payment destroys so many British businesses, and it would be great to see Peterborough thrive by making a stand.”
