There was disappointment for Thorney trainer Pam Sly as her hot favourite Eileendover could only finish fourth in the final race on the first day of the Aintree Grand National Festival.

Eileendover started at even money favourite after winning her three previous races in style this season, but she never looked like winning and faded out of contention in the final two furlongs of the Goffs UK Nickel Coin Mares’ Standard Open NH Flat Race.

The race was won by Mee Too Please at 14/1 ridden by Cheltenham Festival Champions jockey Rachel Blackmore.
