Visitors to Peterborough’s Ferry Meadows have been advised to stay away for 24 to 36 hours because of severe flooding.

A statement by Nene Park Trust said today (December 27): “Most of the Park is currently flooded and water levels are set to rise further, with flood water flowing fast in some areas. We would therefore like to advise visitors, for health and safety reasons, to avoid travelling to the Park over the next 24-36 hours.

“The current situation on 27/12/20 is as follows:

- The main car park at Ferry Meadows remains accessible and open

- The main toilet block remains open

- Coney and Oak Meadows are still accessible but all footpaths around Ferry Meadows are flooded

- Orton Meadows car park is open

- Lakeside car park and toilet block are inaccessible and closed

- Lakeside Kitchen & Bar is closed.

- The Holiday trail is inaccessible

“We will be monitoring the situation and will post further updates when we have them. Please take care.”

The advice came as the Environment Agency warned of a ‘second pak’ of flood waters in Peterborough following the impact of Storm Bella last night.
