A 21-year-old worker at Boots in Stamford stole £4,800 from the till over a period of two months this year.

Jodie Green, of Joan Wake Close, Market Deeping, admitted taking the money between April 1 and June 10.

Prosecuting, Daniel Pietryka told Grantham magistrates that Green took £20 and £50 notes instead of putting them into a special feeder unit. When it was realised what was happening, surveillance was put on Green.

Mr Pietryka said Green was then interviewed and while, initially, she said she did not remember committing the offence, she later admitted spending most of the money. The court was told Green had no previous convictions.

Liz Harte, defending, said there was a “wealth of mitigation” in the case. She asked for a probation report because there were medical issues.

Magistrates adjourned the case until August 13 for a report. Green was granted unconditional bail.
