Sue and Clive Read, well known locally for their involvement with theatrical productions, have been successfully writing plays for the last 20 years.

Their latest offering, to be performed by the Revellers for the first time at the Peterborough Indoor Bowls Club in Burton Street, is called B&B USA and is a comedy based on a real life B&B in Williamstown, a small town on the famous Route 66. Sue and Clive know the B&B well, it’s run by Clive’s daughter and her husband !

The play centres around the owners Jean and Barry Harlow, played by Vicky Head and Brian Havers.

Jean’s intention is to turn the once dilapidated run-down B&B into one of the best for miles around.

However, lazybones Barry seems to have only one interest, their uncontrollable dog who no one else can stand the sight of.

This includes their one track minded Mexican maid, played by Cyd Beagley, and her mind’s certainly not focused on her job description.

One of the guests, retired bank manager Errol Charlesworth, played by Denis Stapleton, is continually threatening that if he had his twelve-bore with him he would shoot the varmint.

Meanwhile his wife April, played by Joanna Linford, has a different priority, putting whatever she can find that will fit, into her handbag.

Things really begin hot up when a bizarre twosome, Bubba and Laverne Bean, played by Shaun Kane and Nichola Gardiner, swing into town on their clapped-out Harley Davidson.

B&B USA runs from 17 to 20 February, for tickets phone 01733 755176 or 560449
