Divers Voyces, an ensemble brought together by a fascination with early English church music, will be in concert at Crowland Abbey on Saturday, June 11, at 7.30pm.

The group makes its 13th visit to the abbey in the last five years, but this performance will mark Divers Voyces’ 10th anniversary since their first public performance at Thorney Abbey in June 2006.

Anyone interested in exploring liturgies as diverse as the 1549 Book of Common Prayer, mediaeval works from the mid-17th century and 16th century Boston-born composer John Taverner will find themselves in their element as a member of Divers Voyces’ audience.

Explaining their musical choices, which will include works by Robert Parsons, Italian Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Frenchman Jean Mouton for the Crowland performance, the Divers Voyces website described them as “the flowing but uncharted waterways of larger-scale renaissance (melody)”.

The audience will relish meeting music previously unknown to them and tickets for Divers Voyces at Crowland Abbey are £8 at the door.
