The Nene Valley Railway Winter Steam gala on February 21/22 will see two significant reunions.
The first involves an identical pair of locomotives with local connections. The two saddle tank locomotives were used in the Nassington Ironstone Quarry until it shut in the 1970s.
One of the pair, Jacks Green, remained close to home - being stabled the Nene Valley Railway while the other Ring Haw went further afield becoming part of the North Norfolk railway fleet.
On the 21st of February the two locomotives will be re-united after nearly five decades apart
On a human front, Nene Valley Railway is also expecting around forty ex-railway men from around the region to enjoy a big get together on the Sunday. What all the invitees have in common is that that they have all worked at the Peterborough’s New England depot.
