Be transported back to a time when pirates ruled the seas with the Peterborough Gilbert and Sullivan Players’ production of ‘The Pirates of Panzance’.
The musical marvel will be performed live in its original format, with words by W.S. Gilbert and music by A.S. Sullivan, at Peterborough’s Key Theatre in September.
The production follows a pirate by the name of Frederic who planned to celebrate his 21st birthday by breaking from the pirate life and beginning his courtship of Mabel. But Frederic was born on February 29th which makes breaking away from the Pirate King a whole lot harder.
Songs such as ‘Poor Wandering One’, ‘I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General’ and ‘Hail! Poetry!’ will be featured. The full orchestra, chorus and vocal soloists make a beautiful elegant sound and the company’s twinkly contemporary sense of humour suits the modern audience.
The production will be showcased at the Key from Monday, September 21, to Thursday, September 24 at 7:30pm. Tickets from the box office on 01733 207239.
