Popular food and drink pub the Crab & Winkle at Werrington reopens tomorrow (Friday) following a brief closure for an extensive redevelopment.

A major six-figure sum investment saw the Loxley Centre pub go through a complete makeover with a new extension increasing its size by a third.

The pub has new furniture both inside and out to add comfort and style to the dining areas as well as Ultra-HD screens for its sports fans in time for the later stages of the Rugby World Cup.

The Greene King pub’s launch night will see a fire-eater deployed outside while inside a table magician will perform a range of tricks for customers.

The following night (Saturday) soul music duo Reece Music will perform live, featuring former member of the Drifters Reece Cannon with his daughter Seona.

The pub is keen to bolster its live music output and local music acts looking to secure a booking there should contact them directly on 01733 322377.

Charlotte Johnson, pub manager of the Crab & Winkle, said: “I am really looking forward to showing off the new look Crab & Winkle. The pub is much bigger and brighter than before. We are excited to be expanding the entertainment we have on offer in the pub and are keen to put on as much live music from local talent as we can.”
