Peterborough is calling on all scooter lovers to attend a three day festival taking place this weekend at Peterborough Rugby Club.
Peterborough Calling is a scooterist weekender taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and is supported by the Peterborough Lambretta and Vespa Scooter Club.
On the Saturday there will be a Northern soul all-nighter in the new main complex, featuring American soul legend Geno Washington, supported by some of the UKs top Northern soul DJ’s. These include scooterist favourite, Carl Fortnum, Rob Smith and new boy on the block Terry the Mod, who will be spinning all the tunes from back in the day.
Adding to the Northern soul all-nighter, will be some great bands including headline band King Kurt. The band will be bringing their form of rock fun to the event.
King Kurt will be supported by other brilliant bands in the grand marquee including Quadro Phenia, Mojo Slide, Jack the Lad and the Skatonics.
The boys from ‘This is England’ will be attending the event and will be participating in all of the games the event has lined up including the tug of war, rodeo bull riding and gladiator duel.
Something for everyone is the promise from promoter Dave Read, he said: “As someone who joined the scene as a Northern soul youngster attending Wigan Casino and then staying with the scene through its transition into the lively mod revival period in the early 80s, I have to admit it’s been a fantastic fun rideout. I think it’s important to capture as much of that fun as possible.”
Gates open tomorrow at 1pm. Advance tickets cost £20 which can be purchased by emailing email@example.com or contact Dave Reed at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 07982258713.
