A qualified hairdresser from Pinchbeck is the face millions of shoppers will see after winning a summer fashion competition.

Ex-Spalding Primary School pupil Anna Lansdown (27) was named Q Style Icon 2015 by a judging panel which chose her from more than 70 entrants to a competition run by Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough.

Anna, who also went to Gleed Girls School, Spalding, appears in Queensgate’s new magazine after having a total makeover, including facial, make-up and nails.

“I had no idea about the competition and no intention of entering it until I nipped into Quensgate after work to pick up a few items before heading home,” Anna said.

“I was just walking through Queensgate when a lady stopped me and asked if I would enter.

“The experience itself was incredible and my favourite bit was doing the photographs because a lovely lady took them who made me feel so comfortable when I got a little nervous.

“I felt relaxed and since the photoshoot, a few people have got in touch and come up to me to say congratulations which is really nice.”

Anna, who studied hairdressing at New College Stamford, currently works for Anglian Water Service in Peterborough which is how she came to be entered for the Q Style Icon competition.

She said: “There have been times when people have suggested modelling to me as, of course, so many girls have.

“But I’ve never really had a chance, even though I’ve always got the skill of hairdressing.

“It was pretty amazing to see my votes going up, but I didn’t expect to win at all and meeting all the staff at Queensgate was really enjoyable.

“Now I think that I could get used to all of the treatments, having my pictures taken and putting together different outfits and ideas.

“There are so many things that I enjoy, like travelling and wearing really classy, timeless looks so if I was asked, I’d jump at the chance to do something like this again.”

Mark Broadhead, Queensgate’s centre director, said: “We had some fabulous contestants for our Q Style Icon competition and we are really glad that people got behind it by voting for their favourite entrant.

“Well done to everyone who made it through to the voting round and a huge well done to Anna for beconing our very first Q Style Icon.

“I have sent the photos of Anna after her styling, beauty and hair treatments and they are fantastic, so I look forward to seeing the feature in our autumn/winter magazine.”

Anna herself added: “I’m especially excited about the actual magazine coming out as people have kept contacting me about other articles I’m in.

“I don’t know what’s next for me but if Q Style Icon opens some unexpected doors in the future, or if asked to do something like this again, I’d jump at the opportunity and grab it because I really enjoyed it and I loved the new look which they created.

“It made me feel so special.”
