The mess cleared included tyres, furniture and a washing machine. All those taking part were issued with high visibility jackets, gloves and hand-pickers. These, together with sacks for the rubbish, were supplied by Huntingdonshire District Council.
With the backing of the parish council, the clean-up is planned to be an annual event.
Spring makeover ELTON methodist chapel has been given a spring clean. The work was concentrated on the schoolroom which, until recently, had been used by the youth club.
Items which had not been used for years were either put out for recycling or thrown away.
The helpers, led by Pat Bourne and Brenda Parkes, stopped at the end of the cleaning for a bring and share meal.
