FENLAND residents are being asked to grab their running or walking shoes to help raise money for March's annual summer festival.
A five mile run and one-and-a-half mile fun run are being staged in April to help towards the costs of holding the popular event.

Wimblington recycling firm Plasgran Ltd is sponsoring the event with entries being accepted before and on the day.

Called Race to Save the Planet 5, the run takes place on April 20.

The five mile run will be over multi-terrain, including part of West End Park, under the bypass to the riverbank and back.

The main race begins at 11.30am, with the fun run starting before at 10am. Children aged over seven are welcome in the fun run – as well as adults – and fancy dress is optional.

You don't have to be a runner, as participants are welcome to walk the course.

The meeting point is Young People March, in City Road, where refreshments will be provided.

There will be parking and toilets available and both races start in nearby West End Park.

Entrance costs £8 for those affiliated to an athletic club and £10 for anyone unattached.
