MEMBERS of the Oundle and District Branch of the Royal British Legion Women's Section celebrated the 65th anniversary of the formation of the branch, with a lunch at the George Inn in Oundle.
A total of 27 members sat down to lunch, including the county chairman, Mrs Heels, county secretary, Mrs Coleman and the president of the branch, Lady Brassey.

One founder member of the branch was present, Ivy Evans aged 93.

Mrs Evans had also made a purse as entry for the Langton Rose Bowl Competition, a county-wide annual craft competition.

Over the 65 years, there have only been four secretaries, including the present one, Ruth Keens.

Regular meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month, at the Drill Hall in Oundle, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
