Thousands attend Easter services at Kingsgate Community Church in Parnwell.
Thousands of worshippers gathered at a city church to celebrate the Easter story this weekend.
The Kingsgate Community Church in Staplee Way, Parnwell, has a regular congregation of more than 1,500 people on Sundays, but over the Easter weekend over twice as many were expected to turn out over four services.
The church held one service on Saturday evening, and three yesterday.
The services were titled 'The Big Hope' and included a mixture of music, dance and readings .
One of the highlights was the New Life Garden, with young lambs and chicks, to celebrate the start of spring – despite the wintery weather.
There were also performances by an 80-piece choir, and all the children attending went home with a chocolate Easter egg.
Senior Pastor David Smith gave the main speech during the services, and afterwards he said they had all gone well.
He said: "We were here for the celebration of Easter, and Jesus dying for our sins.
"We were joined by thousands of people who came on a snowy Easter Day, and it all went very well.
"They were wowed by the presentation, the building, and the whole message."
And head of management at the church, Caroline Cameron, thanked the hundreds of volunteers that made the services possible, and said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be playing host to so many people.
"It is a wonderful time of year to welcome lots of visitors to join with us as we celebrate the essence of the Christian message."
