Thousands of women took part in the Race For Life at Ferry Meadows last night (Tuesday, 24 June), generating huge sums of money for Cancer Research UK.
Young and old ran, jogged and walked their way around the 5km course, many taking part in memory of loved ones lost to the illness.

Can you spot yourself or someone you know in our extended video footage.

An additional race has been organised to meet demand, taking place tomorrow night (Wednesday) at the popular green space.

Deflating feeling as finish arch collapses

About 40 minutes into the race, there were gasps from the crowd as the inflatable start/finish arch collapsed.

It meant the race was delayed for about five min- utes and almost 70 runners had to wait before they could pass the finish line.

Race for Life organiser Heidi Connell said the race had to be halted for safety reasons. She said: "The air flow system failed on the gantry. It started to deflate slowly and we had to secure that before anyone could run so as not to cause a hazard.

It affected about 60 to 70 runners and took about five minutes to get back on track. There was not a massive delay.

"Participants did a mexi- can wave while they waited and it didn't mar the reason they were taking part."

Race organiser Heidi Connell said: "The amount of people walking, jogging and coming together made for a unique evening which will really make a difference."
