LESSONS were brought to life for pupils of a city primary school when they visited the kitchen at the Key Theatre's restaurant.
The youngsters aged between 10 and 11 from Bishop Creighton School, in Vineyard Road in central Peterborough, have been learning about chef and television presenter Jamie Oliver and, in particular, the impact he has had on society in trying to improve children's diets.
While they were in the Key's kitchen, the 30 Year 6 pupils met head chef Danny Exton, who talked to them about food hygiene and the importance of eating fruit and vegetables.
He also helped the children make a healthy pizza, which they took home afterwards.
Year 6 teacher Charlotte Ruddy said the trip was very useful.
"We have a thematic approach to the curriculum with an emphasis very much on creativity," she explained. "Visiting the theatre's kitchen really helped bring the children's lessons to life."
